Čo začalo ako relax sa ukázalo byť životou potrebou a najautentickéjším spôsobom komunikácie samej so sebou i so svetom.
To veľmi potrebujem, lebo som netrpezlivá a často roztržitá a stále niekde lietam s vílami. To v kombinácií s mladou rodinou može byť oriešok :D.

Nejak mi to vtedy neprišlo možné.
Pri umení som zostala ako teoretik. Vyštudovala som dejíny umenia a, pretože som vášnivá frankofilka, tiež francúzsky jazyk a literátúru na MU Brno.
Pred tým než sa usadila a stala matkou dvom krásnym bytostiam som veľa cestovala a mnoho rokov žila v zahraničí (Francúzsko a Wales, UK). Kozmopolitný spôsob života ma silne sformoval a dodnes z neho čerpám inšpiráciu k tvorbe i žitiu.
Dôležitým milníkom bolo narodenie detí a usadenie sa v Brne. Až vtedy som naplno objavila a postupne začala odomykať svoj tvorivý potenciál.

Preto túžim skracovať a zjednodušovať cestu k naplnenému a štavnatému kreatívnemu životu ostatným ženám prostredníctvom prezenčných i online kurzov?
Artist Statement
Painting plays an important communication role in my life. I find the visual language of the expressive nature of color, dynamic brushstrokes, and spontaneous splashing and splattering often more eloquent than words. Effectively, watercolor is the best medium for my intuitive and often automatic painting approach. Its unpredictability and mind of its own guides me gently toward the final version of the painting. Therefore, I usually put the first layer down spontaneously, then watch the colors mingle and interact with excitement and awe. After observing these results for some time I start to see shapes emerging from the background.
Being a woman, a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a friend brings lots of flavors into my life. I often find them a bit overwhelming and confusing. I have a strong sense of perfectionism in me. Therefore I love to explore all these aspects of feminity in my artwork. I seek what feels contradictory and a bit hidden in my life. I feel the need to bring this to the light of the material world and to communicate it to others. Painting helps me to come to terms with my own reality. It enables me to unwind, to seek the answers to the subconscious aspects of my being. I believe that painting women drives me to become a better woman. A woman, that is more aware of what is going on inside her, a woman that can then better function in the real world. Painting is my inner necessity. It is a form of meditative and mindful activity, reconciling the light and the dark side of my existence.
Artist Bio
Martina Petrovičová is a self-taught Slovak artist based in Brno, Czech Republic. She works mainly in watercolor which she loves because of its gentle yet powerful expressiveness and unpredictability.
In her work, Martina is intrigued beyond the aesthetics. With her spontaneous style of painting, she aims to communicate various aspects of women’s existence. She believes art to be a space where she can reconcile life’s polarities and ambiguities. It can be simultaneously an authentic form of communication, a joyful playground, and a mindful therapy. Kids have taught her that not everything goes according to plan and that the creative process is fun on its own. Since becoming a mother, Martina has learned how to embrace the magic of the present moment and the beauty of imperfections, in life and in painting..
Martina received her Master’s degree in French Literature and Art History. Although she always desired to be an artist, it was only motherhood that gave her the confidence to become a full-time artist. Apart from that, she traveled a lot and lived abroad for quite some time. Seeing the world and meeting people of different cultures, as well as becoming a mother formed her personality and philosophy of life which reflects in her paintings to this day.
This year, Martina is exhibiting in situ in the Brno, Czech Republic, and online, internationally. Her passion is to inspire and teach her intuitive approach to painting to other female artists. She is also proud to become a directory artist of a few inspiring international platforms.
